Bridge over Mura River

Within the design competition Ponting proposed four different designs for the treated bridge; Composite truss structure, pre-stressed concrete frame structure, concrete arch structure and a continuous pre-stressed structure with an outer steel hinge in the main span.

The proposal with the outer steel hinge in the main span reached third place at the design competition but was after tender chosen as the most suitable for construction.

The bridge over Mura River was at the time the longest bridge in Slovenia, bridge length over 20 spans amounts 830 m and was constructed by incremental launching construction technology.
