We are preparing a rehabilitation project for the bridge to the Maribor Island

Ponting Bridges is preparing a rehabilitation project for the bridge to the island of Maribor (Mariborski otok). An older bridge structure connects a natural island on the Drava River with the left bank of the river. In the last few days, we implemented a bridge inspection within the rehabilitation project.

The rehabilitation will mainly include the renewal of the entire worn down anti-corrosion protection of the steel structure, replacement of the wooden bridge deck structure, concrete surface repair of the substructure, levelling of an undercut at the river bottom at the northern riverbed pier, installation of new bridge lighting, installation of public utility infrastructure and arrangement of additional bridge equipment.

The steel arch-strengthen truss bridge to a natural river island with a popular outdoor swimming pool complex was built in 1934. It rests on two high reinforced concrete abutments and crosses the riverbed in three spans of 21.42 m, 61.20 m and 21.42 m. The bridge is 5 meters wide and has a wooden deck structure, divided into two 2.40 meters wide sections for pedestrians and cyclists as well as service vehicles.

The client of the bridge rehabilitation project is the City Municipality of Maribor.
