Last week, an official ceremony was held at the Gabrovica Viaduct to mark the completion of the incremental launching works. The construction of the 424 m long railway viaduct on the new railway line Divača - Koper (Slovenia) began in early 2022. Unique prestressed concrete U-shaped superstructure (assuring noise and buffeting wind protection) with spans of 64 m was launched over up to 64 m high piers without auxiliary supports.
The route of the new railway line Divača - Koper runs over three viaducts. The Gabrovica viaduct represents the most attractive structure of the new line, as it passes under the
Črni Kal highway viaduct. The new railway line will be operational by 2026.
The project was prepared by Design Joint Venture Ponting Bridges and Pipenbaher Consulting Engineers, the author and the main designer is Dr.h.c. Marjan Pipenbaher, MSCE. The works are being carried out by Yapi Merkezi.
