The exhibition “Together we know best” includes seven projects by Ponting Bridges

The exhibition Together we know the best: Slovenian engineering and architectural achievements, prepared by DESSA Gallery in co-organization with the Section of Civil Engineers of the Chamber of Engineers of Slovenia presents 40 selected buildings, including seven designed by Ponting Bridges. The selected buildings were created in the last sixty years in Slovenia and abroad, under which Slovenian civil engineers and architects are signed as authors.

The authors of the exhibition Kristina Dešman, Maja Ivanič, Špela Kuhar, Špela Nardoni Kovač, Vesna Perovnik and Damjana Zaviršek Hudnik) wrote in the introductory text: "A wide spectrum of high-quality engineering and architectural structures - bridges, viaducts, tunnels, towers, railway structures, flood protection and avalanche defense structures, sports facilities - shows the tradition and continuity of our exceptional architectural knowledge. In addition to innovation and boldness, which enhances structural logic and economic justification, aesthetics and rationality in the use of materials, the key selection criteria were well-thought-out placement in the space, (multi)functionality and compliance with the spatial and cultural context. The placement of large, infrastructural facilities in the landscape goes beyond the behaviour of an individual or individual profession, their impact on the environment and people is large and complex. That is why creative collaboration, inspired by the desire to act for the good of society, respecting different views and understanding broader perspectives is key."

The exhibited projects of the Ponting engineering office are the Marinič Bridge in Škocjan Caves park (2011), the Studenci Footbridge in Maribor (2008), the Puh Bridge in Ptuj (2007), the Ada Bridge in Belgrade (2012), the Pelješac Bridge in Croatia (2022), the Črni Kal Viaduct (2004) and the South portal of the Golovec Tunnel in Ljubljana (1999).

The exhibition is on view until March 2, 2023.
