Season's Greetings

As the year draws to a close, we take the opportunity to look back! And what a year it has been!

In the summer, we witnessed the spectacular opening ceremony of a 2404-meter long Pelješac Bridge, the new symbol of modern Croatia. The long-awaited road connects the southernmost part of Croatia with the rest of the country on the Adriatic coastal Motorway.

In September, the overpass Sonce in Rogaška Slatina opened to pedestrians and cyclists. It provides a safe connection between the Rogaška Slatina promenade and the foothill of Tržaški hrib. The efficient, environmentally responsible structure and attractive lighting of the overpass encourage people to walk and cycle.

The works on the 912,6 meter-long Pesnica Railway Viaduct progressed well. The installation of the track superstructure with slab track is currently ongoing. Now the longest railway viaduct in Slovenia is planned to open to traffic in mid-2023.

The works also progressed well on a 108 meters tall observation tower Kristal in Rogaška Slatina. A tower with a two-storey viewing platform and an outdoor rooftop observatory is scheduled to open in 2023. It will become the tallest building in Slovenia.

A couple of pedestrian and cyclists bridges crossing Krka River in Novo mesto are nearing completion. The footbridge in Irča vas is designed as a stress-ribbon bridge with 130 meters span. The footbridge Loka-Kandija is designed as a steady line across the Krka River, which rests on the single support in the middle of the riverbed.

The construction works on the railway viaducts Gabrovica and Vinjan on Second track of the Divača - Koper Railway alignment are also progressing well. The 424-meter long Gabrovica railway viaduct will cross the valley of Osp at a height between 10 meters and 60 meters and will run under our Črni Kal highway viaduct, the largest Slovenian viaduct. The 650-meter long Vinjan viaduct with superstructure spans of 100 m and up to 55 m high piers runs over a landslide area so that it had to be founded on up to 40 m deep wells.

A big thank you to all our previous, current and future clients, partners and followers for making our favourite moments from 2022 possible. From all of us at Ponting Bridges: Happy holidays and best wishes for the new year!
