Tomaž Weingerl will present the footbridge in Irča vas, the first stress-ribbon bridge in Slovenia, and dr. Viktor Markelj will present the pedestrian bridge over the Drava River in the center of Maribor. Other lections include the construction of the footbridge in Irča vas, the load testing of the same footbridge, the construction of the footbridge Loka - Kandija and the influence of the construction technology of the Gabrovica and Vinjan viaducts on the concrete mix design. Presentations will take place on October 26 and 27, 2023, at the 44th Assembly of Slovenian Association of Structural Engineers in Bled.Tomaž Weingerl (1974) is a Project manager and Bridge designer of Ponting Bridges. As a responsible designer, he participated in the design of the Malečnik Tunnel (2010), the Ljubno viaduct (2012), the multiple award-winning Štukelj footbridge in Irča vas (2023) and several smaller bridging structures. As an associate designer, he participated in several projects of demanding viaducts and bridges, such as the Baričević Viaduct (2003) and the Straža Viaduct (2004) in Croatia, the Millennium Bridge in Montenegro (2006), the Menar Viaduct in Algeria (2016), the Nissibi Bridge over Euphrates in Turkey (2012), the Peračica viaduct (2012) and Julija's Footbridge in Novo mesto (2023).
Viktor Markelj (1958) is a Partner, Managing Director and a Senior Bridge designer of Ponting Bridges. His notable bridges include the Ada Bridge in Belgrade (2012), Puh Bridge in Ptuj (2007), Pedestrian drawbridge in Gdańsk (2017), Bridge over Mura River (2003) and viaducts Lešnica (2007, 2010). A winner of many awards for his engineering expertise and a lecturer that passes the knowledge to future generations at University of Maribor.
