We are delighted the Tremerje Footbridge is part of this year’s Open House Slovenia Festival. Join our senior bridge designer Dušan Rožič for a guided tour on Friday 17 September at 13:00, and explore our pedestrian and cycle bridge over Savinja River. Tour reservations will open on Wednesday, 8.9. (link). Open House Slovenia will take place on September 17-19, 2021. The event aims to connect architects, designers and other experts with citizens, to support interaction and open discussion about architecture and urban space. The event promotes quality design accessible to all, and informs the public with tools and knowledge to better understand values of quality built space.
A few words about Tremerje Footbridge: the client wanted the structure to have an innovative and distinctive design, but did not want a suspension bridge due to deformability. In the open space between the lush overgrown banks, which offer the most beautiful views of the river, we wanted as little structure as possible. The main steel structure was designed as a space truss structure consisting of two longitudinal circular hollow profiles at the top and the bottom. In fact, there are two plane trusses, but twisted outward into the third dimension. This opens up space for cyclists.
