Construction started on the overpass Sonce in Rogaška Slatina

Construction of the new, 177.5 meters long and 3.5 meters wide overpass Sonce in Rogaška Slatina, Slovenia, is on its way. Preparatory works are currently underway at the construction site, the construction of a deep foundation on piles with a diameter of 1.00 m, the relocation of public utility lines and the establishment of temporary traffic arrangements.

The Municipality of Rogaška Slatina signed a construction contract with Contractors JV Adriaplan d.o.o. and Petrič d.o.o. in August. Structural and architectural design of the new pedestrian and cyclist overpass was prepared by Ponting Consulting Engineers design office. The transparent curved steel structure will have one larger, 43-meter-long arch span, spanning a main regional road and railway.

The overpass Sonce will connect the Rogaška Slatina’s old spa area with the Trieste hill, where shortly a larger P+R parking space is to be built. It will serve as a new, safe bike and walking trail for the local community.

The new overpass is expected to be completed in one year.
