After a successful construction-tender, carried out in May 2016, the construction of the new bascule footbridge, between Gdansk old town center and Olowianka Island, started in June this year. The bridge will be build acoording the design produced by Ponting, winning the international design competition in 2012 among 68 other competitors from arround the world. According to the authorities the construction should be completed by end of May 2017.
