All four bearing tendors of the Foot and Cycle Bridge in Irča vas installed

The construction of the footbridge over the river Krka in Irča vas (Slovenia) is progressing successfully. The construction of the bridge started in August 2021. Since then, the contractor JV CGP Novo mesto and Freyssinet Adria finished excavations and concreting of up to 16 meters deep wells, construction of abutments, installation of 54 permanent prestressed geotechnical anchors and installation of all four bearing tendons. Shortly, the placing of superstructure precast segments should begin.

Structural and architectural concept of new footbridge over the Krka River, prepared by Joint Venture Pipenbaher Consulting Engineers and Ponting Bridges design office together with Jereb and Budja Architects was awarded with 1st prize on design competition among 13 bridge competing entries in 2017. The bridge convinced the jury with its structural concept, transparency and peaceful integration into the natural environment.

The bridge is designed as a stress-ribbon bridge with 120 m span. The bridge superstructure is 4 meter wide and 42 cm thick. The bridge is expected to be completed by winter.

It is the second ongoing project for Ponting and Pipenbaher Consulting Engineers in the Municipality of Novo mesto, next to the foot and cycle bridge Loka-Kandija. This bridge is expected to be completed by winter as well.
